Wood Energy and Microgrid Opportunities
The Indian Valley Community Services District (IVCSD) was awarded a U.S. Forest Service grant on September 18, 2023, for $90,055, with the District providing a required 50% match for a total project budget of $180,110. This funding supported a project titled “Advancing Wood Energy Microgrids for IVCSD and the Community of Greenville,” aimed at exploring sustainable wood energy and microgrid opportunities to support local energy resilience.
The project was completed with the assistance of Wisewood Energy, which compiled the findings in a final report dated December 2025. The report is available for public review and comment, highlighting potential strategies for integrating wood-based energy systems and microgrid technologies to benefit IVCSD facilities and the Greenville community.
